We are seeking a full time or part time Equine Veterinarian at our Endell Equine Hospital in Salisbury.
Endell Equine Hospital is a well-established tier 3 hospital providing care to the horses in the Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset areas. We strive to perform the best equine medicine possible and our ambulatory team have access to the exceptional hospital facilities and equipment to achieve this.
Our team consists of 7 ambulatory vets, 1 specialist surgeon, 2 hospital interns, 4 clinical nurses, 2 grooms and numerous support staff. All of our ambulatory vets have their own complementary skills and interests (e.g. surgery, sports medicine, stud work, internal medicine etc.) and where possible the caseload will be moulded around the applicant's interests. A fully stocked fleet car will be provided for all work activities. Flexible and part-time working patterns are supported.
Key Responsibilities:
Routine and emergency ambulatory equine work
Triage and collaborate with in-house specialists in diagnosis and management of complex cases requiring hospitalisation.
Maintain strong relationships with clients and vets through excellent communication and attention to detail.
On call requirements
1 in 5 OOH cover (supported by Equicall every other week)
The on-call duties include ambulatory calls and receiving/triaging hospital cases.
A well-deserved day off in lieu after a weekend on call is standard
Qualifications and Skills:
Degree in Veterinary Medicine and Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport with clients and team members.
Full UK driver's license
We conduct Bristol student's equine rotations at the hospital, so an interest in teaching is welcome.
For those who don't hold a certificate, we are very supportive and encouraging of RCVS certificates and other post-grad qualifications. We also encourage ambulatory vets to direct their caseload into the hospital as appropriate to make use of the facilities and staff.
