Anaesthesia Internship Programme
Two anaesthesia internship positions, Starting on the 30th of June 2025
We are looking for two enthusiastic and highly motivated anaesthesia interns who is committed to practicing the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient care and who would relish the opportunity to further his/her/their career in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia and improve his/her/their knowledge base and technical skills. Our internship programme aims to nurture the best and brightest Veterinary Surgeons to serve as the foundations and grassroots for future generations as well as prepare them for advanced postgraduate training programmes such as residencies.
The anaesthesia internship at Bristol Veterinary Specialists is a 12-month fixed-term position. In this exciting role you will work under the supervision of and support our anaesthesia team, comprising 5 European Specialists in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia, 2 anaesthesia residents and 9 anaesthesia nurses.
BVS is a large specialist-led, referral-only hospital located in Bristol. This facility offers a broad range of specialist veterinary referral services including internal medicine, oncology, soft tissue surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopaedics, diagnostic imaging, dermatology, cardiology, ophthalmology and dentistry. With state-of-the-art equipment and highly experienced nursing teams, we receive cases from all over the country, with the assurance of exceptional care to all our patients. We have a dedicated ICU, radiotherapy unit and a varied and interesting caseload. We work with B&W Equine Hospital to provide weekly anaesthesia service and comply to the ECVAA requirements.

Personal specification for application
A proactive, professional approach, positive attitude at all times, outstanding interpersonal skills, ability to stay calm under pressure, great teamwork skills, along with a commitment to practicing the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient care is required.
If you think you have these skills and wish to apply for an Internship at Highcroft Veterinary Referrals, you must be a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS). Applicants must be a MRCVS by the date the internship starts, and ideally by the date of application and interview.
A minimum of twelve months experience working as a qualified Veterinary Surgeon in small animal practice in the UK is desirable, and most candidates should have a previous rotating internship in a specialist hospital.
Salary & Benefits
Bristol Vet Specialists provides one of the most exceptional salary and benefits packages available to interns.
