Experienced Vet with Surgical Bias - Ashman Jones Vets - Salary up to £65k
Are you a very capable veterinary surgeon with a 4+ years of experience and a surgical bias looking to join a fun and friendly team?
Due to site expansion, we are looking for a veterinary surgeon to join our team at Ashman Jones. We treat our clients and their pets as part of ‘our family,' offering a friendly, welcoming service. We pride ourselves on high levels of clinical care and thorough case work up.
Whilst support will always be available for the more challenging cases, you need to be confident in all aspects of first opinion consulting, medicine and surgery (including soft tissue surgery such as caesareans, splenectomies, cystotomy, abdominal surgery).
Hence, the role will suit a 4+ year experienced vet preferably with a surgical bias. An interest in imaging would be advantageous. Experience in orthopaedics is not essential but could be supported. Our ideal candidate will be keen to contribute to the development of the team and want to be actively involved in growing the practice and moving it forward into the future. This may come in the form of a certificate, supporting training nurses / new graduates vet or leadership development.
Based in Bath, we are a well-established and thriving practice. We have a large and loyal client following which provides a breadth of cases across a range of small animal species.
We are currently a 2-site practice fully equipped practice with digital x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, full in-house lab, separate dog and cat ward, and fully equipped operating theatre. Our 3rd site is currently under construction and will be purpose built housing all of the same facilities including laparotomy kit.
Our current staff includes 5 FTE vets with a supportive team of experienced qualified nurses, 2 student veterinary nurses, patient care assistant and a reception team.
You will have the opportunity to practice high levels of veterinary care, free from constraints yet have the benefit of support, whether than be a case discussion or another pair of hands in surgery.
We are passionate about the development of the team and are a nurse training practice as well as supporting the development of younger graduate vets.
You would need to be willing to support younger graduates in their development including becoming a vetGDP advisor.
CPD is actively encouraged and there is the opportunity to have certificates funded.
We value work life balance and are happy to discuss shift pattern flexibility. We work on 15 minute consults with plenty of breaks throughout the day for case planning, phone calls, cups of tea and lunch breaks!
