FULL TIME NEW GRADUATE OR JUNIOR ASSOCIATE VETERINARIAN POSITION
IN 100% POULTRY PRACTICE BASED IN ATCHAM, SHREWSBURY
Slate Hall is a specialist poultry practice with 15 veterinarians operating from offices in Cambridgeshire, Shrewsbury, Hereford, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. We have an extensive and varied client base, working with both large integrated and smaller independent producers of broilers, broiler breeders, commercial layers, turkeys, ducks and game birds.
We are seeking to recruit a new graduate or Junior Associate to join our team and undertake a scheduled training programme. This role involves a combination of post-mortem examinations, site visits, sampling, diagnostics and data interpretation to investigate health, performance and welfare issues for our clients.
The successful applicant will follow a training and mentorship programme supervised by experienced poultry veterinarians, whom hold post-graduate qualifications in poultry medicine. This will include, but is not limited to:
Post-mortem examination
Sampling procedures and microbiology techniques
Interpretation of serological, molecular diagnostic and production data
On-farm training to understand management requirements of different production systems
Shadowing mentors on site visits, followed by supported independent visits
CPD and training courses on diagnostics and poultry health
An understanding of poultry disease management is desirable but not essential. Suitable candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fluency in English and have a full clean driving licence. An RCVS recognised degree in veterinary medicine is essential.
Remuneration would be competitive and include a company car. There is an opportunity to progress within the Practice after completion of the programme and gaining experience.
