Do you enjoy travelling or have things in your life that need time to do? Are you looking for a structured work pattern that enables you to plan ahead and make the most of your time out of work? Or are you a vet that wants the challenge and satisfaction of emergency critical care without the burn out of a dedicated OOHs centre?
At Seadown we recognise the need for the all-round care of our patients. But at the same time, we recognise our team members as individuals; and the need to look for different ways of providing this care, within a framework that allows the supported development, clinical challenge, and job satisfaction for everyone.
This is why we have developed a new role within our team of vets. This role allows the clinical freedom and flexibility to develop your skills during normal working hours, within a large and supportive team of Vets and Nurses; yet at the same time gives a regular 7 days off following the OOHs shift pattern.
So how does it work?
A repeating 3 week pattern, with 1 week of day shifts, 1 week of night shifts & 1 week off. We are happy to consider alternative working patterns however, let us know what works best for you!
How busy are the nights?
We only cover OOHs for our own clients, which means the OOHs case load is not heavy, with an average of 2-3 clients seen per night; these cases will vary from a medical consult to full surgical cases.
With international airports less than an hour away this allows those aspiring travellers easy and regular access to Europe and beyond. The pattern of weeks also means you can achieve 2 or even 3 weeks off, yet only use 1 – 2 weeks of your annual leave allowance!
As for the clinical work – we have a team of 12 FTE SA vets and 22 VNs, with multiple certificate / diploma holders within those teams. The team are always looking to give the very best clinical care to our patients, and we facilitate that endeavour by supporting them with the clinical freedom, equipment, CPD, and support that they deserve.
The New Forest National Park and Solent ensure the local area offers excellent recreational opportunities particularly equestrian, cycling, sailing and walking; as well as beautiful beaches, ancient woodlands, and wildlife. Ponies, cattle, donkeys and deer roam free, yet it's only 90 minutes by train to London.
