Due to expanding the team we are looking for an experienced or more recently qualified Small Animal Vet – Ashfield Veterinary Surgery, Annfield Plain, County Durham / Part-Time over 3 days/ Salary of up to £67k DOE FTE dependant on experience+ Benefits / Relocation Package available for those moving to the area / Visa sponsorship (must be eligible to register with RCVS)
We are based in a beautiful rural county within 6 miles from historic Durham City and 15 miles (or 15 mins on the train) from the bright lights of Newcastle upon Tyne. Stunning countryside is on the doorstep with the Durham dales and Durham coastline both within easy reach.
We are a very well established practice with many loyal clients. Nearly 2 years ago we moved to the current purpose built premises which has been a huge success for both clients and staff.
We have 3 consultation rooms, 1 nurse/cat room consultation, separate cat and dog waiting areas, in house pharmacy, and state of the art prep room and theatre. We also have onsite parking with an electric car charging point.
We are looking for a part-time veterinary surgeon with good all-round GP experience, but would consider a recent graduate. You will be joining a small and supportive/ friendly team, who are passionate about high clinical standards and contextualised care for their patients and who all look after each other.
We are an experienced team of 4 Vets (over 40 years of experience), 6 RVNS (total of almost 30 years of experience), PCA, SVN, Reception, and Practice Manager supporting us on a daily basis.
Our RVNs are amazing! They are very proactive with Schedule 3, and have a keen interest in clinics. As well as the usual nurse consults, they do geriatric clinics and weight clinics. We have a number of progression stories within the team, our PCA progressed from a Receptionist position and is now starting her RVN training. Our Clinical Director started life at Ashfield as a locum Vet and progressed onto senior vet followed by CD.
Teamwork is important to us - We discuss cases frequently to ensure we get the best outcome for the patient. We are a very friendly, caring and well-organised practice and we often do team building exercises and arrange nice meals after work.
This is a Part-time position. The working hours would be based on 3 working days and we are open to all requests for different working patterns. Its 1 in 4 Saturdays (9 am-12.30 pm) there are no on-call duties or bank holidays to work, giving you a great work-life balance.
