Surgical Internship Programme

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated surgical intern who is committed to practising the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient care and who would relish the opportunity to further their surgical career, improving their knowledge base and technical skills.  Of the twelve interns that have completed our surgery internship 11 have gone on to secure ECVS residency programs in Universities and private practice both in the UK and abroad. .

Bristol Vet Specialists is a specialist led, referral only hospital.  We offer a broad range of Specialist veterinary referral services including internal medicine, oncology (medical and radiation), soft tissue surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopaedics, anaesthesia, imaging, dermatology, dentistry and ophthalmology.  We have state-of-the-art equipment and highly experienced nursing teams which means that we receive cases from all over the country and give the assurance of exceptional care to all of our patients.

The internship at Bristol Vet Specialists is a 12 month fixed-term position.  In this exciting role, you will work under the supervision and support of surgical Specialists.

Personal specification for application

A proactive, professional approach, positive attitude at all times,  outstanding interpersonal skills, ability to stay calm under pressure, great teamwork skills,  along with a commitment to practising the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient care is required.

If you think you have these skills and wish to apply for an Internship at Bristol Vet Specialists you must be a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS).  Applicants must be an MRCVS by the date the internship starts, and ideally by the date of application and interview.  You must be a UK resident or have settled status.  Unfortunately we cannot support applications from those needing visa sponsorship.

A minimum of twelve months experience working as a qualified Veterinary Surgeon in small animal practice in the UK is desirable, and most candidates should have a previous rotating internship in a specialist hospital.

Salary & Benefits

Bristol Vet Specialists provides one of the most exceptional salary and benefits packages available to interns.  In addition to a salary (£32,000 per annum), you will have 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, RCVS and VDS membership, company contributory pension scheme and other company fringe benefits.

CVS is committed to being a fully inclusive place to work where all our colleagues are encouraged and supported to be themselves, where difference is celebrated and where everyone feels able to deliver their best.
