Equine Nursing Assistant

Seadown Equine Clinic in the New Forest is looking for a part-time Equine Nursing Assistant to join the team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our dedicated and supportive team of Equine Vets, Nurses and Reception staff. We see a wide variety of cases and every day is different! 

The successful applicant will have a strong equine background, with suitable experience and skills of handling and working with a variety of horses.  

You must be punctual, proactive, hardworking and can work as part of a team and individually. You will also have great interpersonal skills working and liaising closely with our clients. 

This varied role involves the following both in the clinic in Hythe, Southampton and an ambulatory component (a full UK driving licence is essential). 

The position involves/requires: 

- handling patients for examinations and treatments 

- assisting the Vets with lameness workups, radiography, ultrasonography, dentistry, general surgery and anaesthesia. 

- general maintenance, cleaning and disinfection of the equine hospital environment and a variety of specialist veterinary equipment (full training will be provided) 

- caring for any equine inpatients, feeding, grooming, mucking out and re-stocking of all clinical areas 

- administrative and receptionist tasks/shifts - including liaising with clients on the phone and via email, booking appointments, assisting with insurance claim processes etc.  

The hours are 08:00-17:00 with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break - for two to three days per week. 

We can be flexible on which days are to be worked. 

Salary will be in line with the National Minimum Wage.  

Holiday entitlement – 6.6 weeks per annum (inclusive of Bank Holidays).
