We are looking for a full‑time Equine Veterinary Receptionist - Call Handler to join our fast‑paced, friendly team within our busy Equine Hospital and Ambulatory practice.

 

Role Details:

Location: Bell Equine Veterinary Clinic - Butchers Lane, Mereworth, Maidstone, Kent, United Kingdom, ME18 5GS

Contract: Permanent, Full-time

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday, rota will include some evening and weekend cover when needed

About the Role:

As the first point of contact for our clients, you will play a crucial role in ensuring horse owners receive timely, accurate, and compassionate support.

No two days are the same—this is a dynamic position that requires quick thinking, excellent communication, and the ability to thrive in a busy clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answering and directing high volumes of incoming calls in a professional and efficient manner
  • Logging emergency and routine callouts for vets across the hospital and ambulatory teams
  • Coordinating appointment bookings, admissions, and visit schedules
  • Providing clear and supportive communication to horse owners, referring vets, and internal teams
  • Maintaining accurate records within our clinical management system
  • Working closely with clinicians, nurses, and administrative teams to ensure smooth client journeys

 

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Calm, confident, and composed even in high-pressure situations
  • An excellent communicator with a professional, warm manner
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
  • Comfortable handling fast-paced workflows and multitasking
  • A team player with a positive, proactive attitude
  • Previous experience in a call handling, customer service, veterinary, or medical environment is highly desirable, but full training will be provided
