Equine Vet Internship Opportunity at Western Counties Equine Hospital
Are you an equine vet looking to expand your knowledge?
Are you looking to join a progressive, friendly and experienced team?
Come and join our fun, friendly, sociable team at our busy equine hospital in the beautiful Devon countryside close to the coasts and moors. The internship will run from July 2025 for 12 months and involves mainly hospital-based work and in-patient management although opportunities for ambulatory work and to be part of the veterinary team at racecourse and international eventing competitions are available if desired.
The hospital offers a 24/7 emergency referral service and full involvement in the hugely varied caseload (from pleasure horses to top-level racehorses) is encouraged under the guidance of RCVS-recognised specialists in surgery and medicine and with the support of our great nursing team.
Exposure to medicine, surgery, lameness evaluations (including objective gait analysis and MRI), anaesthesia and reproduction all form important parts of the internship and our relatively small hospital allows individual interns to focus on areas they are particularly interested in or wish to develop.
The position would suit an enthusiastic team player who wants to enhance their exposure to a broad-ranging equine caseload, it is equally suitable for recent graduates or those with some experience and provides an excellent grounding for progression into further training posts or general equine practice.
In order to be considered for this role, you will need to be registered with the RCVS or eligible to register.

On-site, individual modern accommodation
VDS cover, RCVS and BEVA membership
Generous CPD allocation with a place on the BEVA/CVS new graduate CPD programme
