Are you an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse with a passion for leadership and delivering exceptional patient care? Lumbry Park Veterinary Hospital is seeking a dynamic Head Nurse to lead and develop our large nursing team within a busy, multidisciplinary hospital environment for a 12-month fixed-term Maternity Cover

 

About the Role 

As Head Nurse, you will be responsible for: 

  • Leading and developing a high-performing nursing team. 
  • Setting and maintaining excellent standards of patient care. 
  • Driving a culture of customer service and clinical excellence. 
  • Managing all aspects of nursing team operations, including recruitment, wellbeing, performance, and compliance. 
  • Ensuring adherence to professional regulations and RCVS Practice Standards. 
  • Identifying and implementing innovative ways to enhance patient and client care. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Leadership & Team Development: Inspire, mentor, and support the nursing team, fostering a positive and professional working environment. 
  • Clinical Standards: Implement and monitor CVS nursing standards, ensuring exceptional care for every patient. 
  • Operational Management: Oversee rotas, resource planning, stock control, and compliance with health and safety protocols. 
  • Quality Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement and clinical excellence. 
  • Client Care: Ensure a seamless client experience through clear communication and compassionate service. 
  • Financial Awareness: Work closely with the Hospital Director and Clinical Director to manage nursing budgets and contribute to practice growth. 

 

What We're Looking For 

  • RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse with proven leadership experience. 
  • Strong ability to coach, mentor, and develop others. 
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills. 
  • A proactive, positive, and enthusiastic approach. 
  • Ability to balance clinical excellence with operational efficiency. 
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and practice management systems.
