HEAD VET

Do you thrive on mentorship and helping others succeed and/or a passion for clinical improvement and governance?

We are seeking an experienced veterinary surgeon to come and join our friendly, dedicated and close-knit team.

Ideally you will possess some previous leadership experience, but we are also excited to offer an opportunity to those looking to explore gaining new leadership skills and personal development.

You will be supported by our Senior Practice Director, Head Nurse and our very experienced team.

CVS offers a comprehensive training suite for all colleagues, and we actively encourage funding of certificates and further qualifications.

Bridge Vets, Wroxham sits right in the middle of the beautiful Norfolk Broads, with easy access to both the coast and Norwich city centre. We have four consult rooms and plenty of kit available to help deliver an excellent level of care and service, including Laparoscopy, Endoscopy and Dental X-ray, and a wealth of Laboratory analysers.

Your duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to, the following:

  • Conduct consultations, investigations and surgical procedures, practising outstanding first opinion medicine and surgery, with a focus on preventive and diagnostic driven healthcare.
  • Conduct clinical audits to develop the Vet team and to improve the surgery performance. Maintain a reflective no-blame culture of clinical audit.
  • Investigate and resolve clinical adverse incidents and customer complaints using these as an opportunity to reflect and improve processes, standards and protocols.
  • Influence and lead the team to change embedded ways of working to improve outcomes.
  • Lead by example by consistently demonstrating a caring, professional attitude to customers and patients.
  • Intuitively read the customer, patient and the situation to anticipate needs. Influence customers to follow best-practise advice.
  • Communicate promptly and effectively with customers regarding progress of investigations, treatment and follow-up care.
  • Ensure that inpatients receive the appropriate clinical care, and an effective handover is conducted between colleagues and/or out of hours providers.
  • Collaborate with the central leadership team to expand and improve the services provided at the surgery.
  • Be an ambassador and lead the team to adhere to the values of the practice and wider CVS Group.
  • Maximise the commercial performance of the clinic by monitoring key performance indicators such as average transaction values and diagnostic percentages. Identify and pursue opportunities to improve commercial and clinical performance.

Ideally, you will have Sound commercial acumen.

Our standard benefits include:

  • 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays (or equivalent) with our Buy/Sell holiday scheme - allowing you to purchase an additional two weeks of annual leave.
  • RCVS, VDS and subscription fees paid.
  • Generously encouraged and fully funded CPD – abundant opportunities within the business aided by internal and external development courses and programmes.
  • Receive an extra day leave each year in your first 5 years at CVS.
  • Cycle to work scheme and subsidised gym membership.
  • Enhanced Maternity, Paternity and Adoption pay.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Pension scheme – automatic enrolment and completely hassle free.
  • Access to First Aid for Mental Health and Wellbeing Champions across CVS and 300 trained CVS colleagues in this role.
  • Colleague discount on pet products and treatments including free consults, cost price drugs and a discount to our online pharmacy, Animed.
  • Access to the company share-save scheme

CVS is committed to being a fully inclusive place to work where all our colleagues are encouraged and supported to be themselves, where difference is celebrated and where everyone feels able to deliver their best. We are also determined to build a workforce that is more representative of our diverse communities and the people we provide our services to.
