What You'll Be Doing

As our Head Receptionist, you'll be the friendly face and steady hand that keeps our client care running smoothly. Your role will combine hands-on reception work with team leadership responsibilities, including:

Leadership & Team Support

  • Inspiring, supporting and developing our reception team
  • Training new starters and helping the team grow in confidence

  • Providing feedback and maintaining high standards of client care
  • Handling any challenges with calmness, professionalism and empathy

Reception Excellence

You'll also be hands-on in the day-to-day running of our busy reception areas:

  • Managing calls, booking appointments and handling enquiries
  • Welcoming clients and making every visit feel positive
  • Processing insurance forms and dispensing medications
  • Taking payments and managing client accounts
  • Liaising with vets, nurses and other practices
  • Supporting clients through difficult moments with kindness and compassion

This role is perfect for someone who loves being busy, enjoys responsibility, and genuinely cares about client experience.

What We're Looking For

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience in a receptionist/client care role (veterinary experience is a bonus!)
  • Leadership experience, or the passion and potential to step up
  • Excellent communication skills and a warm, welcoming manner
  • Resilience and the ability to handle emotional situations
  • Confidence using computer systems and Microsoft Office
  • A positive, can‑do attitude and a commitment to teamwork

What We Offer

We know how important it is to feel valued. Here's what you can look forward to:

  • Salary up to £32,000 (DOE)
  • 5 weeks' annual leave + bank holidays
  • Staff discounts on veterinary care and products
  • A supportive, friendly and collaborative team environment
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme and 400+ Mental Health First Aiders
  • Clear progression through our innovative Receptionist Career Pathway
  • A workplace that celebrates diversity and encourages everyone to be themselves
