 About CVS Vets:

Our mission is simple yet meaningful: to provide the best possible care for animals, and this dedication guides everything we do.

We are a leading provider of veterinary services with operations in the UK and Australia. We are focused on providing high-quality clinical services to our clients and their animals, with a commitment to clinical excellence, extensive colleague support, exceptional learning and progression opportunities, and great facilities and equipment at the core of our strategy.

It's in our nature – to care, to support, to learn and to progress. That's what sets us apart at CVS Vets.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the HR Administration team — coach, build capability and create a culture of ownership, accountability and continuous improvement
  • Manage team capacity and priorities — ensure workloads are balanced to consistently meet agreed service levels and SLAs
  • Own HR administration query management — act as the first point of escalation and ensure queries are resolved accurately, efficiently and within SLA targets
  • Oversee employee lifecycle administration — ensure timely and accurate delivery across:
    • Onboarding
    • Contract generation
    • Contract amendments
    • Probation administration
    • Leave & absence administration
    • Employee changes (e.g. flexible working requests)
    • Leavers
    • Right to Work and visa compliance
  • Monitor performance and reporting — track KPIs, service levels and query volumes, identify trends and implement corrective actions where required
  • Maintain compliance and audit readiness — ensure HR records, contracts and processes remain compliant, including GDPR and data protection, file audits and internal control
  • Drive process improvement — review and standardise processes, develop SOPs, guidance, templates and process maps, and support HR systems testing and improvements

 What we're looking for

  • Strong HR administration background with a comprehensive understanding of the employee lifecycle
  • Leadership experience in HR Shared Services, HR Operations or HR Administration (typically 3–5 years' experience). CIPD Level 7 is highly desirable
  • Proven people management skills – experienced in coaching, developing capability, and managing performance within large, fast-paced organisations, with a strong track record of leading and supporting sizeable teams.
  • Service delivery mindset — experienced in managing SLAs, KPIs, query volumes and first-time resolution performance
  • Strong HR operations knowledge including contracts, employee changes, leave processes and Right to Work/visa compliance
  • Excellent data and compliance focus — comfortable maintaining data accuracy, supporting audits and working to GDPR/data protection requirements
  • Confident communicator able to build strong relationships with HR colleagues and key business stakeholders
  • Continuous improvement approach — able to identify root causes, simplify processes and drive practical operational improvements

Most importantly, you'll live and breathe our I CARE leadership values:

  • Inclusivity: Valuing diverse perspectives and adapting your approach to get the best from everyone
  • Collaboration: Encouraging open communication and resolving challenges early
  • Accountability: Supporting honest conversations through regular check-ins and feedback
  • Role Modelling: Leading with integrity and following through on commitments
  • Empathy: Using emotional awareness to support wellbeing and performance
