Internal Medicine clinician at Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists (Alton, UK)
We are excited to announce that Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists is looking for an Internal Medicine clinician with a special interest in acute medicine/emergency care to join our team. The available role is for a 1-year fixed, full-time position (4 days a week, Tuesday to Friday). While the ideal candidate would be an internal medicine Specialist (Dip ECVIM-ca / Dip ACVIM) or a Specialist in Emergency and Critical Care comfortable working up medicine cases, residency-trained clinicians will also be considered. The starting date is flexible but could start as early as August 2026.
You will join our team of seven internal medicine diplomates (ECVIM-CA and/or ACVIM), one emergency and critical care diplomate, three internal medicine residents, one internal medicine intern, and several medicine-specific nurses. You will be expected to primarily see urgent and emergency cases, although more chronic-elective cases will also form part of this role. You will also participate in an out of hours on-call rota for medical emergencies.
Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists is a specialist-led multidisciplinary referral hospital situated just outside Alton, Hampshire, UK; providing veterinary referral services across the South of England including London, the South Coast and the Thames Valley. Our specialist-led services include internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, soft tissue surgery, oncology, cardiology, anaesthesia, emergency and critical care, neurology and neurosurgery, dermatology, and orthopaedics. We have residents in internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, surgery, anaesthesia, and neurology. Facilities include a brand-new MRI, 16 slice computed tomography, endoscopy suite (gastroscope, colonoscope, video-bronchoscope, and rigid endoscopes), ultrasonography, fluoroscopy, and digital X-ray.
The hospital is an ISFM gold feline clinic and was awarded the BVHA design award for an outstanding working environment. We are part of CVS (UK) Ltd, the largest provider of integrated veterinary services in the UK; the referrals division currently operates nine referral hospitals in the UK and Ireland. We also host final-year UoS veterinary students on their intra-mural rotations in small animal referral practice.
