We are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technician to join our Newton Abbot Laboratory.

 

Role Details:

Location: Axiom Veterinary Laboratories - Manor House, Brunel Road, Newton Abbot, Devon, United Kingdom, TQ12 4PB 

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Tuesday– Saturday between the hours of 07.00 – 18.00

 

 About Our Laboratory:

Axiom Veterinary Laboratory is a busy diagnostic pathology facility servicing a large group of veterinary practices across the country.

The laboratory in Newton Abbot is responsible for processing veterinary samples for clinical diagnostic purposes.

About the Role:

As a Laboratory Technician in our Molecular Diagnostics department, you will be part of a dynamic, high-throughput diagnostic team.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Sample Preparation: The organisation of clinical samples ready for processing.
  • Nucleic acid extraction: Purification of DNA & RNA from clinical samples.
  • PCR: The set up and analysis of Real Time PCR testing for a variety of clinical targets.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensuring all equipment is functioning properly and maintained according to standards
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining clear and accurate records to support the timely reporting of results
  • Communication: Acting as a key liaison to ensure smooth information flow between colleagues, managers, and other departments
