We are currently recruiting for a Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory Technician to join our Newton Abbot Laboratory.

 

Role Details:

Location: Axiom Veterinary Laboratories - Manor House, Brunel Road, Newton Abbot, Devon, United Kingdom, TQ12 4PB 

Contract: 6 Month Fixed Term Contract, Full-time

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, with a share in the Weekend rota

About the Role:

As a Laboratory Technician in our Molecular Diagnostics Unit, you will be part of a dynamic, high-throughput diagnostic team.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Sample Preparation: Pre-treatment of veterinary samples received for PCR testing.
  • Nucleic acid extraction: DNA & RNA extraction and purification in preparation for PCR testing.
  • PCR set up and post amplification analysis.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensuring all equipment is functioning properly and maintained according to standards
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining clear and accurate records to support the timely reporting of results
  • Communication: Acting as a key liaison to ensure smooth information flow between colleagues, managers, and other departments

About You:

  • Tech-Savvy: Competent with Microsoft 365

Whilst previous laboratory experience is advantageous, it is not required for this role.
