We are currently recruiting for a Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory Technician to join our Newton Abbot Laboratory.

 

Role Details:

Location: Axiom Veterinary Laboratories - Manor House, Brunel Road, Newton Abbot, Devon, United Kingdom, TQ12 4PB 

Contract: Permanent, Full-time

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, with a share in the Weekend rota

About the Role:

A specific Laboratory Technician role within our Molecular Diagnostics department is advertised to help accommodate a new test being launched by the laboratory. You will be part of a dynamic, high-throughput diagnostic team and your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Sample Preparation: Pre-treatment of clinical samples ready for processing.
  • DNA extraction: Purification of DNA from FFPE tissues and glass slide FNA samples.
  • PCR: The set up of qPCR testing targeting specific genetic regions of canine mast cell tumours
  • Post amplification analysis: Melt-curve analysis of PCR products.
  • Report writing: The generation of tailored reports for interpretive use by oncologists and first opinion practitioners.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensuring all equipment is functioning properly and maintained according to standards
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining clear and accurate records to support the timely reporting of results
  • Communication: Acting as a key liaison to ensure smooth information flow between colleagues, managers, and other departments
