Join our small, friendly, but busy Poultry Veterinary Laboratory near Cambridge as a Laboratory Technician, here at Slate Hall Veterinary Services.
We are seeking a dedicated and self-motivated individual with excellent communication and IT skills to ensure the smooth operation of our veterinary and laboratory team.
About Us
Our laboratory is UKAS ISO/IEC 17025 and DEFRA approved, operating under highly regulated conditions to maintain exceptional quality in our results. Our main testing includes:
Salmonella Isolation and Confirmation (including S.enteritidis vaccine strain check)
Rapid Slide Agglutination Serology for Mg, Ms, and Sp antibodies
Additional laboratory activities include:
Serological testing using ELISA and HI tests
Farm and hatchery environmental hygiene monitoring
Water testing and bacteriology to support post-mortem work
Oocyst and worm egg counting from feces or litter
Key Responsibilities
Perform laboratory tests and ensure quality control
Collaborate with team members to support the smooth operation of the laboratory
Maintain accurate records and documentation
Communicate effectively with the team and other stakeholders
Qualifications
Self-motivated with strong communication and IT skills
Previous experience in bacteriological and ELISA techniques is advantageous but not essential
Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
Position Details
Employment Type: Full-time
Hours: Includes some weekend work on a rotational basis after training
Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience
