Chestergates Veterinary Specialists is a multi-disciplinary referral hospital in the North West of the UK. We have Specialists in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology, Orthopaedics, Diagnostic Imaging, Dermatology, Soft Tissue Surgery and Anaesthesia, as well as an Advanced Practitioner in Ophthalmology. Alongside our referral services, we provide a busy out-of-hours service for a large network of primary care practices, enabling our teams to work closely together to deliver outstanding patient and client care 24 hours a day.

We are seeking a night veterinary surgeon with a minimum of one year's clinical experience to join our dedicated night team. This role offers a unique combination of referral inpatient management and primary care emergency work, making it ideal for a vet looking to further develop their ECC and inpatient care skills while working alongside specialists and an experienced out-of-hours team.

Working a 7 nights on, 14 nights off rota (alternative working patterns may be considered), you will take primary responsibility for the overnight care of referral inpatients, ensuring continuity of care and high clinical standards for a varied and interesting caseload. You will also manage emergency presentations from our first-opinion out-of-hours service, taking ownership of cases from initial assessment through to ongoing treatment and client communication.

You will work as part of a highly skilled night team, supported by experienced RVNs and fellow OOH clinicians. Our specialist team is available on call for referral patients, providing expert support when required while allowing you the autonomy to develop your confidence and decision-making skills. The role also offers opportunities to be involved in advanced medical and surgical procedures and to gain exposure to specialist-level patient management.

This position would suit a veterinary surgeon who has completed at least one year in practice and is looking to build their experience in emergency and critical care. You will be a strong communicator, enjoy collaborative working, and be passionate about delivering excellent patient and client care during the most challenging and rewarding parts of the day.
