1 year Oncology Internship

Bristol Veterinary Specialists is recruiting an Oncology Intern to join our busy medical and radiation oncology service. The successful candidate will be joining three board-certified/board eligible clinicians in medical oncology, one in radiation oncology, three oncology residents, three specialist nurses, therapeutic radiographers and patient care assistants.  We have a brand-new hospital with state-of-the-art oncology facilities including an Elekta 6MV linear accelerator capable of intensity-modulated and stereotactic treatments.

Bristol Vet Specialists is an expanding multi-disciplinary referral hospital based in Avonmouth, near Bristol, with specialists in oncology, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedic surgery, neurology, dermatology, cardiology, maxillofacial surgery and ophthalmology.  We have a number of existing residency and internship positions (in internal medicine, neurology, anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, ophthalmology and surgery) and there is a collegial, multi-disciplinary team approach to case management.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who is committed to practising the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient care and who would relish the opportunity to further their career, improve their knowledge base and technical skills in oncology.  Progression to an ECVIM-CA residency in oncology is possible for the right candidate.

Visits to the hospital before the interview date are encouraged.

Personal specification for application

Strong commitment to the field of veterinary oncology and at least 12 months post-graduate experience as a vet in small animal practice is required.  Completion of a rotating internship is desirable, although equivalent time spent in high-quality small animal practice will also be considered.  Applicants must be an MRCVS by the date the internship starts, and ideally by the date of application and interview.
