West Mounts Veterinary Hospital

Location: Halifax, West Yorkshire
Contract:
Full-time/Part-time
Practice Type: Small Animal, Out of Hours
Competitive Salary: Up to £70,000 fte depending on experience

We're thrilled to offer a fantastic new role for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our dedicated Out of Hours Halifax team.

This role would suit a Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys out of hours and emergency cases, is confident sole charge, and is looking to work within a collaborative team where clinical standards are valued, professional development is encouraged and work-life balance is genuinely supported.  The role is available for up to 40 hours, but we are also happy to accommodate part-time, flexible applications - just let us know what works for you! Shift times would be between 7pm - 9pm.

At CVS, we put our colleagues first, giving you the support you need to provide the best possible care. From clinical to non-clinical challenges, you'll always have the resources and teams alongside you. We'll be your biggest supporter it's in our nature.

With market leading learning, on the job training, and collaboration with skilled colleagues, you'll have the tools to grow whether you're building confidence early in your career or looking to deepen your expertise. From advancing in your current role to exploring new leadership or specialist pathways, we provide the support and opportunities to help you achieve your goals.

Life at West Mount.

West Mount Vets is a well-established first small animal hospital with a loyal and long-standing client base, supported by a friendly, experienced, and collaborative team that is committed to delivering high-quality patient care. Operating from a purpose-built facility, the practice is equipped with three dedicated consulting rooms and a fully equipped operating theatre, providing an excellent environment for both routine and more complex clinical work.

This role offers an exciting and varied medical and surgical caseload, giving you the opportunity to develop and utilise your skills across a broad range of cases. You will benefit from the support and guidance of experienced colleagues while enjoying the clinical freedom to make decisions that are in the best interests of your patients. The practice works closely with our Halifax hospital, which provides its own out-of-hours service, ensuring that this position remains focused on first opinion veterinary care with no routine out-of-hours commitment. This allows for an excellent balance between delivering exceptional clinical care and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

About you

We're looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys building strong relationships, works well within a supportive team and is keen to continue developing their clinical skills. An interest in mentoring colleagues or progressing into a leadership role would be welcomed but is by no means essential.

You will be:

  • Driven by shared passion to provide the best possible care to animals, you're committed to delivering outstanding care to support our patients and their owners.
  • Confident in your clinical skills, you'll be able to take on cases and carry out diagnostic investigations with precision.
  • Keen to develop, you're committed to gaining further confidence in clinical skills so that you can manage or lead on different case types
  • A natural mentor and team player, you'll enjoy supporting and inspiring all colleagues to help them thrive. Providing ongoing support to team members with opportunities for progression.
  • Client care comes naturally to you, you know how to create a positive, reassuring experience that builds trust and long-lasting relationships.
  • As an experienced vet you'll be comfortable handling a varied caseload, offering guidance to the wider team and contributing to shaping clinical standards.
