About the Role
As Veterinary Practice Director, you'll provide strategic and operational leadership across the practice, ensuring excellent clinical standards, a strong team culture, and sustainable business performance.
Working closely with the Practice Manager, Clinical Director/Head Vet, and Regional Director, you'll lead your team to achieve exceptional outcomes for patients, clients, and colleagues alike.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the overall performance and development of the practice.
  • Drive business growth and financial performance in partnership with practice and regional leadership teams.
  • Champion CVS's purpose, values, and strategic objectives at a local level.
  • Inspire, engage, and develop colleagues, creating a positive and high-performing culture.
  • Ensure clinical and behavioural standards meet RCVS requirements and CVS Clinical Governance standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance patient care and client experience.
  • Work collaboratively across the practice to maximise efficiency, productivity, and service delivery.
  • Manage employment costs and operational expenditure effectively.
  • Provide high-quality surgical and medical care in accordance with professional standards and RCVS principles.
  • Represent the practice at regional meetings, conferences, and business events.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for a confident and collaborative leader who can balance clinical excellence with commercial awareness and people development.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Qualified Veterinary Surgeon with current RCVS registration.
  • Previous leadership or management experience, ideally within a clinical environment.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of business performance metrics.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional patient and client care.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence, engage, and build strong working relationships.
  • Highly organised with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable
  • Experience leading organisational change or business growth initiatives.
  • Previous responsibility for financial planning, budgeting, or P&L management.
