Patient Care Assistant

Part-time job opportunity for anyone who wants to get their foot in the door of the veterinary profession! 

Falkland Veterinary Clinic are looking for someone to join us as a Patient Care Assistant at our busy, first opinion small animal practice, based in Newbury, Berkshire on Saturday mornings, 8.30am – 12.30pm.

About the role:

The Patient Care Assistant role is one of the foundations of veterinary practice, and as a PCA you will be involved in supporting our team of qualified Nurses and Vets to provide outstanding care to our patients.

Some of the duties will include: (full training will be given)

• Assisting Vets and Nurses in restraining animals for treatment
• Cleaning, walking, and feeding patients
• Preparation of emergency and operating facilities
• General cleaning and maintenance duties
• Running internal lab samples
• Answering emergency calls

What we look for in our Veterinary Patient Care Assistants:

• Minimum age of 16 years
• Excellent communicators with strong empathy
• Resilience, with the ability to cope in potentially distressing and emotional situations
• A positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills
• Experience with animals
