Join our dynamic and supportive Soft tissue and Orthopaedic teams!
We are pleased to offer this three-year clinical training post, starting January 2026, based at Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists (LPVS) in Alton, UK. We are one of the largest specialist-led multidisciplinary referral hospitals for small animals in the UK. We are situated in the beautiful Hampshire countryside, within 30 minutes of picturesque Winchester.
In this exciting position you would be part of our team of two residents enrolled on our ECVS Standard Veterinary Surgery Residency Programme (SVSRP). The experienced surgery team consists of four ECVS diplomates, two residency-trained clinicians, one third year resident and two surgical interns, creating the ideal supportive environment to learn, develop and progress your career.
The surgery service manages a range of complex cases, working alongside specialist-led Anaesthesia, Diagnostic Imaging, Oncology, Emergency and Critical care, Ophthalmology, Internal medicine, Neurology and Dermatology services, as well as our highly skilled nursing and support teams. The residency will incorporate training in all aspects of soft tissue surgery (including laparoscopic, reconstructive, ENT, genitourinary, thoracic, gastrointestinal and surgical oncology), orthopaedic surgery (including fracture repair, arthroscopy, arthroplasty, ligament reconstruction, angular limb deformity correction, corrective osteotomies) and neurosurgery. Training in internal medicine; diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia and clinical pathology, will be provided.
We are part of CVS (UK) Ltd, a leading provider of integrated veterinary services in the UK, and are supported by services from eight other referral hospitals in the UK and Ireland. There are opportunities to collaborate with other CVS hospitals as well as the University of Surrey on research activities. Facilities include on-site Siemens 1.5T MRI, 16 slice computed tomography, endoscopy suite, ultrasonography, fluoroscopy, digital X-ray and dedicated chemotherapy room. The hospital is an ISFM Gold Cat Friendly Clinic and was awarded the BVHA design award for an outstanding working environment. We are also proud to host final-year University of Surrey students on their intra-mural rotations in small animal referral practice.
To apply for this role, a minimum of twelve months experience working as a qualified Veterinary Surgeon in small animal practice in the UK is essential. We expect that candidates will have completed a minimum of a one-year rotating internship. We are seeking a proactive, professional individual with positive attitudes at all times. Outstanding interpersonal skills, and an ability to stay calm under pressure and work as a team are essential. You must also demonstrate a commitment to practising the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient care and an interest in research.
We offer competitive salaries plus excellent benefits, 5 weeks annual leave plus public holidays, support for ongoing professional development, pension and a friendly, supportive working environment. Please see the role profile for more detail including salary information.
