Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists is a large multidisciplinary referral hospital providing veterinary referral services across the South of England including London and the Thames Valley. Our services include Orthopaedic surgery, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Internal Medicine, Soft Tissue Surgery, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Oncology and Diagnostic Imaging. The hospital is an ISFM gold feline clinic and was awarded the BVHA design award for an outstanding working environment. We are part of CVS (UK) Ltd, the largest provider of integrated veterinary services in the UK; the referrals division currently operates eight referral hospitals in the UK and Ireland.
We are looking for a Diagnostic Imaging Intern to join our Imaging team, the main role of the intern is to contribute to the smooth running of the department by assisting the imaging clinicians and technicians, including participation in an Out Of Hours (OOH) rota. The ideal candidate is looking for a role to develop skills in performing diagnostic imaging examinations across a range of different modalities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Participating in the rota for staffing the Xray room during daytime hours (approximate 1 in 5 working days) including radiography and maintenance of Xray room and equipment.
Assisting in the acquisition of CTs and MRIs, including operating the CT and MRI machines after appropriate training.
Writing draft radiological reports; Ensuring reports are written to an excellent standard.
Obtaining ultrasound-guided cystocentesis and simple fine needle aspiration samples following appropriate training.
Participating in OOH weekend and weekday rota (1:4 weekends and 1:4 weekday nights) to assist an imaging clinician with CT and MRI examinations after appropriate training.
Participate in weekly radiology rounds and extra-departmental lectures and CPD programs
Help to maintain general imaging records and PACS system
Help general workflow by assisting with efficient throughput of imaging patients and liaising with the anaesthesia team and support staff.
