Surgery Internship - Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists (Alton)

LPVS is a specialist-led multidisciplinary referral hospital providing veterinary referral services across the South of England including London, the South Coast and the Thames Valley. Our services include EBVS® European or American board-certified specialists in small animal surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, internal medicine, anaesthesia and analgesia, emergency and critical care (one ACVECC diplomate), dermatology, diagnostic imaging, oncology and cardiology.

Facilities include on-site Siemens 1.5T MRI, 16 slice computed tomography, endoscopy suite, ultrasonography, fluoroscopy, digital X-ray and dedicated chemotherapy room. The hospital is an ISFM Gold Cat Friendly Clinic and was awarded the BVHA design award for an outstanding working environment. We are part of CVS (UK) Ltd, the largest provider of integrated veterinary services in the UK. We are proud to host final-year university of Surrey students on their intra-mural rotations in small animal referral practice.

We are seeking proactive, professional individuals with positive attitudes at all times. Outstanding interpersonal skills, and an ability to stay calm under pressure and work as a team are essential. Interns must also demonstrate a commitment to practising the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient care.

The internship will involve a range of duties to help facilitate the running of the surgery department; including a contribution to inpatient care, consultations, student teaching, assisting with the management of emergencies, supervised primary care responsibility, diagnostic procedures and surgeries. The role will expose you to training in the medical and surgical management of patients as well as working within a referral team setting. There will be opportunity to be involved in clinical research. The role would prepare you well for entry into an approved residency training programme in small animal surgery. The role is expected to start in late July 2026.

Prior completion of a rotating internship, or a minimum of two years of experience in small animal practice in the UK is considered essential. We expect that candidates will have excellent standards of written and spoken English. Roles are full-time (40 hour week) with an expectation of 1:3 weekends on call. We offer a salary of £32,000 and a very generous remuneration and CPD package for internships.

Please submit your CV and a letter of intent stating clearly which position you are applying for.
