Summary of role:
We are seeking a part qualified Tax analyst to join our in-house tax team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an international in-house tax team of a growing FTSE listed business. The role offers broad exposure across UK and Australian corporate tax, VAT/GST and some employment tax areas. As well as involvement in supporting on tax in respect business acquisitions and projects.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to deliver accurate and timely tax reporting and compliance and support the wider Tax and Financial Accounts teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Tax Compliance:
Supporting preparation of UK and Australian corporation tax returns for all group entities (c50 companies). This will involve a mixture of inhouse preparation and working with external advisers.
Supporting with preparation of capital allowances claims. This will involve a mixture of analysing fixed asset spend in-house, and managing external advisors on more specialist areas
Preparing quarterly instalment tax calculations, group relief calculations and Group Payment Arrangement allocations
VAT/GST Compliance:
Supporting with preparation of VAT/GST returns for the group (UK and Australia).
Preparation of EC Sales returns
Employment Tax Compliance:
Assisting with preparation of the PAYE Settlement Agreement and equivalent in Australia
Tax Data Analysis
Tax data analysis, such as analysis of fees for VAT recovery & of costs for tax deductibility. Also support the collection, validation and analysis of data.
Prepare tax reconciliations between financial reporting and tax filings
Maintain and enhance tax models, trackers and reporting tools used for tax compliance
Other responsibilities include:
Supporting Tax Manager & Head of Tax with delivery of various tax projects, reliefs and claims (e.g. RDEC claims, M&A transactions – including reviewing due diligence reports, analysing impact on business of any tax legislation changes).
Assisting with dealing with the UK & Australian tax authorities, auditors, external advisors etc. To include managing compliance engagements outsourced to third party advisors, responding to tax audit questions, and supporting Tax Manager with managing tax enquiries
Assistance with international tax matters, which may include Country-by-Country reporting, transfer pricing etc
Act as a point of contact for tax queries across the business, providing practical guidance, and delivering training to finance and operational teams on tax related matters and processes
Supporting continuous improvement of tax processes, controls and tax reporting models
Experience and Key Skills Required:
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Part CTA/ATT qualified or equivalent
Previous experience in corporate tax and/or VAT
Good Excel skills & competent dealing with large datasets
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
Desirable Skills, but not necessary:
Previous experience working in an in-house tax role in an industry setting.
Experience preparing tax disclosures under IFRS/FRS101
Exposure to international tax matters or working within a multinational group
Experience using Alpha Tax
