About the role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a passion for animals to join us as a Weekend Veterinary Care Assistant at MiNightVet Woodbridge, Melton. 

We are looking for someone who can join us on a part-time basis, working 21 hours across Saturday & Sunday (8am-7pm). We can also consider job share applications and provide a rota for every other weekend if you prefer. Due to the nature of the role and the emergency & critical care environment, our ideal candidate would have some animal care / veterinary experience. This role would also suit someone who is wanting to enhance their skills to pursue a career in veterinary nursing. 

The Veterinary Care Assistant role is one of the foundations of an outstanding veterinary practice, and as a VCA you will be involved in supporting our team of qualified RVNs and Vets to provide outstanding care to our patients. 

MiNightVet Woodbridge is a well-established, out of hours hospital, offering an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Care Assistant to develop their career in a busy, high-standards clinical environment. working alongside an experienced and supportive team, you'll be have the opportunity to work on a varied caseload where no two days are ever the same.

Some of the duties will include:

  • Nursing care to patients
  • Assisting Vets and Nurses in restraining animals for treatment
  • Cleaning, walking, and feeding of patients
  • General cleaning and maintenance duties
  • Restocking equipment & supplies
  • Covering the receptionist desk, including answering queries, booking appointments and taking payments

What we're looking for in our Veterinary Patient Care Assistant:

  • An excellent communicator with strong empathy
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience in dealing with members of the public
  • Resilient with the ability to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations
  • A positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills
  • Experience in looking after animals in a veterinary environment would be desirable
