Veterinary Physiotherapist

Riverside Veterinary Practice is currently recruiting a university qualified Veterinary Physiotherapist.

The successful applicant will provide veterinary physiotherapy services within the Armadale Practice (1-3 East Main Street, Armadale, EH48 2NT).

Role Details:

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 36 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday  (days negotiable for the right candidate)

 The main function of this post is the provision of veterinary physiotherapy for both internal and externally referred cases to the busy physiotherapy service. The post holder will also be involved in the clinical teaching of our own veterinary staff. Support will be given to develop clinical interests and skills through development opportunities and mentoring. About Us

The physiotherapy service at Riverside Vets has been established for over 6 years. There is a large designated clinic room which the physiotherapist will have sole access to. There is a wide range of equipment already in place including a class 4 Companion LASER machine, Pulsed Magnetic Field Therapy machine, Therapeutic Ultrasound, NMES & TENS machines, a stance analyser and electric goniometer device, as well as exercise therapy equipment.

There is access to an in-house Acupuncturist, weight management team and a Clinical Behaviourist within the team as well as experienced and engaged Vets and a visiting specialist surgeon. Species treated will be primarily dog and cat.

Essential requirements

• University qualified with an undergraduate degree, post-graduate diploma or masters in veterinary physiotherapy
• Ideally 1-2 years post-graduate experience as a minimum, as autonomous working is required
• Registered with either IRVAP, RAMP or ACPAT and fully insured
• An ability to work alone comfortably and confidently
• High level of digital literacy due to the patient management system and physiotherapy exercise prescription portals used
• Applicant must be an enthusiastic and approachable individual who works well within a team in a sometimes fast paced environment. They must be an excellent communicator, have a deep clinical understanding and knowledge of physiotherapy and its application and have a strong track record of keeping up to date with emerging research
• Value accountability, practice clinical reasoning and be an advocate of effective outcome measuring to ensure excellent care standards upheld
• Full valid UK driving licence, as there may be a requirement to drive to another practice or place to deliver or attend CPD

Desired requirements:

• Skills, confidence and knowledge to hold lunch & learn CPD sessions for internal & external veterinary staff, to generate awareness and referrals
• Interest in developing improved clinical pathways with the rest of the veterinary team
• Interest in development of gold standard assessment & treatment protocols
• Involvement in regular reviews of clinic processes in line with current up to date evidence base
• Keenness to contribute to social media posts & other external marketing or events
• Work with inpatient staff (Vets & VNs) to implement improved protocols post-op and with inpatients
• Develop resources for Vets & Nurses & Owners
• Work with the in-house Clinical Behaviourist to develop pain/behaviour referral relationship and in house acupuncturist to support pain management protocols
