Veterinary Surgeon:
Part Time
£60,000 (DOE) (FTE) pro rata
Stow veterinary surgeons has been serving the surrounding area for over 200 years. Our purpose built premises in Stow on the wold was opened in 2001. Here we have 4 consult rooms, 3 wards, 2 theatres and separate dental and imaging rooms along with a spacious reception and prep room. We also have 4 branches which are a consult and reception room only, in the lovely nearby villages of Burford, Northleach, Milton under Wychwood and Moreton in the Marsh. We have dental xray and bronchoscope endoscope and laproscope equipment, along with digital xray and contempary ultrasound.
We have a team of 6 part time receptionists and 2 practice administrators; 8 care assistants and 6 nurses; 8 vets and a groomer. We do our own out of hours for which we have a care assistant on site, a nurse and vet oncall from home, and a senior vet for backup, not all roles require out of hours. We share the shifts so most weeks a vet would spend a day on theatre, a day on consults, and a day on branch consults, visiting one village in the morning and one village in the afternoon. Our full time vets work 4 days a week, to but several of the team already enjoy a 3 day week, plus equally shared weekends and oncall. Part time we can consider 1 or 2 days a week, or mornings only, with a share of saturdays and backup oncall. We would also consider saturday only rotas.
We work in an area where many clients are insured and we are able to provide the best care to their pets. However we also look after the blue cross pet rehoming charity at Burford, which means we get a good caseload of neutering, dentals and lumpectomies ideal for recent graduates to learn, or vets returning from a break to get back up to speed. The team have regular lunches together in the workday and along with practice events such as Christmas do and summer bbq arrange their own outings. The practice also attends a few local events each year at village fetes for example.
