Equine Veterinary Surgeon – South & West Wales

South Wales Equine Vets | RCVS Accredited Practice

South Wales Equine Vets is a growing, independent‑minded equine practice covering South and West Wales. We are now looking for a general equine practitioner to join us as we continue to expand our client base and develop our services.

This role would suit a vet who enjoys true ambulatory practice, values teamwork, and wants the time, support and equipment to do the job properly.

The Role

As our client base continues to grow, you will play a key part in:

  • Providing high‑quality first‑opinion equine care across a varied caseload
  • Building long‑term relationships with clients, from family pony owners to competition riders
  • Contributing ideas to improve clinical standards, client experience and service development
  • Supporting and being supported by colleagues in a genuinely collaborative team

We are accredited under the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme and take pride in delivering consistently high standards of care without losing the personal feel of a local practice.

Your Caseload & Equipment

You will be fully supported with excellent, modern ambulatory equipment, including:

  • Mobile digital radiography
  • Ultrasound
  • Endoscope & gastroscope
  • Motorised and advanced dental equipment
  • Extracorporeal shockwave therapy
  • Laser (including sarcoid laser surgery)

For cases that benefit from additional support, our experienced veterinary technicians are on hand to assist.

When referral is required, it is straightforward and well supported through CVS and the nearby B&W Equine Hospital, with access to Surgical, Medical, Imaging and Sports Medicine Diplomates and advanced imaging.

Why Join South Wales Equine Vets?

  • A small, friendly and supportive team where teamwork is a genuine core value
  • A practice that encourages discussion, learning and shared decision‑making
  • Backing from CVS, giving you access to a wide professional network without losing local autonomy
  • A beautiful and varied part of the UK to live and work, with good quality of life outside the job

We are always happy to arrange an informal visit so you can meet the team and see how we work.

Learning & Development

We are committed to helping our vets develop in the direction that suits them:

  • Access to an internal CPD hub with 1,000+ courses (clinical, client and commercial skills)
  • A generous external CPD allowance
  • Support for developing special interests and long‑term career pathways

Benefits

Our benefits package is designed to support both your professional and personal wellbeing and includes:

  • A comprehensive health cash plan
  • Wellbeing‑focused benefits
  • Access to a large network of mental health first aiders
  • CVS employee benefits and support structures

Full details can be shared on request.
