We have an opportunity for a Small Animal Vet to join us at Market Cross, Dalkeith on a part time rota.  

Rota: 10 hours a week. One day a week. 1 in 4 Saturdays mornings. No OOH or on call.

We are a modern, forward thinking and progressive practice and team. We are looking for a Vet with motivation to continue to improve clinical standards and standard of care. This position is ideal for a GP Vet looking to do a mix of consultations and surgeries however we can accommodate a vet looking for a consultations only role.

We're proud to have a highly experienced clinical team, including four vets, two registered veterinary nurses (RVNs),  a student veterinary nurse (SVN), a patient care assistant (PCA), and a dedicated receptionist team. Our practice is well equipped with digital X-ray, dental X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy and an in-house laboratory, as well as separate dog and cat wards and waiting areas helping us provide exceptional care from diagnosis through to treatment. The team work hard to prioritise continuity of care, supporting patients and owners by seeing cases through from start to finish. We have a strong focus on evidence-based medicine and responsible antimicrobial stewardship. The team are very committed to fear free practice and work hard with owners to build patients trust and confidence. We have a team member who runs very successful desensitisation appointments.

About you

We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic, Veterinary Surgeon committed to providing high standards of patient care, and happy with a good mix of consults and surgery. We could also accommodate a Vet seeking a consultations only role. You will be:

  • Confident in your clinical skills, you'll be able to take on cases and carry out diagnostic investigations with precision.

  • A natural mentor and team player, you'll enjoy supporting and inspiring all colleagues to help them thrive. Providing ongoing support to team members with opportunities for progression.
  • Client care comes naturally to you, you know how to create a positive, reassuring experience that builds trust and long-lasting relationships.
  • As a vet you'll be comfortable handling a varied caseload, offering guidance to the wider team and contributing to shaping clinical standards.
