Veterinary Surgeon, Valley Veterinary Group, Kilmarnock and Stewarton. Scotland.

Valley Veterinary Group Kilmarnock and Stewarton practices (20 minutes south of Glasgow) have a new position for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join their team.

Rota: 20 hours a week.

Life at Valley Vets

We are a two-site practice, 20 minutes south of Glasgow and only 10 minutes from the beautiful Ayrshire coast.

Our practices are forward-thinking and busy, and we take pride in delivering the highest level of veterinary care to our loyal clients and their pets.

We have a purpose-built RCVS-accredited main surgery, which is extremely well-equipped to allow case workups to a high standard and an SVN training practice. There are approximately 20 of us here in practice. Our practice is very well equipped, as you would expect of a modern, forward-thinking practice, with dental radiography, endoscopy and recently upgraded ultrasound.

We have received 5 RCVS Outstanding Practice Standard Awards, which we are enormously proud of.

We understand that relocation can be daunting, which is why we offer relocation packages to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

About you

This is a first-opinion GP role with a focus on consultations, interpreting lab results, case planning, prescription oversight, and supporting our nursing and reception teams.

You'll be working closely with a loyal client base, many of whom have been with us for decades, and benefit from a high percentage of insured clients and a strong work-up culture.

While this is primarily a consulting role, we do require some surgical experience for routine procedures, but, as a team, we are more than happy to provide support and training to help with development.

There is no on-call required in this role, and Saturdays are worked on a rota basis of 1 in 5.

We understand that relocation can be daunting, which is why we offer relocation packages to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

You will be:

  • Driven by shared passion to provide the best possible care to animals, you're committed to delivering outstanding care to support our patients and their owners.
  • Confident in your clinical skills, you'll be able to take on cases and carry out diagnostic investigations with precision.
  • Keen to develop, you're committed to gaining further confidence in clinical skills so that you can manage or lead on different case types
  • A natural mentor and team player, you'll enjoy supporting and inspiring all colleagues to help them thrive. Providing ongoing support to team members with opportunities for progression.
  • Client care comes naturally to you, you know how to create a positive, reassuring experience that builds trust and long-lasting relationships.
  • As a vet you'll be comfortable handling a varied caseload, offering guidance to the wider team and contributing to shaping clinical standards.
