Veterinary Surgeon – Day Role

Salary up to £74,100 DOE

Newnham Court Veterinary Hospital is looking for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our experienced and well‑established Tier 3 hospital team in Maidstone, Kent.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a progressive, supportive hospital with genuinely impressive facilities, a varied and interesting caseload, and the backing of a large, highly skilled clinical team

 
The Role

You'll work within a collaborative and forward‑thinking environment, enjoying a balanced mix of consulting, surgery and inpatient care. With strong nursing and administrative support, you'll have the time and resources to practise high‑quality medicine, develop your own clinical interests, and—if you wish—support and mentor junior vets.

Our consults are 15-20 minutes and all of our vets get protected, blocked out admin time in practice. There will also be a brand new additional consult room coming soon, which will take our consults to the next level

Rota & Work–Life Balance

  • 4 × 10‑hour shifts, Monday–Friday
  • 30–40 hours per week (flexible)
  • 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (consult‑only)
  • No OOH
  • 8 vets per shift, ensuring excellent clinical support

The Hospital

We are an RCVS‑accredited Tier 3 Hospital, recognised for delivering outstanding clinical care and exceptional client service. We have an outstanding client service award and also hold ISFM gold status.

 

Our hospital is exceptionally well equipped to support advanced diagnostics and surgery, including:

  • CT scanner
  • 2 × Karl Storz laparoscopic full kits
  • Full range of rigid and flexible endoscopes
  • Foreign body retrieval equipment
  • ‘Earrigation' system for managing ear disease
  • TPLO orthopaedic capability
  • Ophthalmic slit lamp and tonometry
  • ECG and Holter monitor
  • Advanced ultrasound machine with four probes and echocardiology package

 

The Team
  • 21 Veterinary Surgeons, covering a wide range of interests and expertise, including Cert & AVP holders in the below:
    • Feline Medicine
    • Small Animal Medicine
    •  ECC
    •  Ophthalmology
  • 40‑strong nursing team, actively supported in CPD and clinical development
  • Dedicated practice management and administrative support to keep things running smoothly

 

Salary & Benefits

💷 Salary up to £74,100 DOE

Located in Maidstone, Kent, the practice is easily commutable from Chatham, Rainham, Sittingbourne, Faversham, Tonbridge, Marden, Staplehurst, Headcorn, Ashford, Sevenoaks, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Paddock Wood, Canterbury, Orpington, Gravesend and South London.
