This is an exciting opportunity for a confident first-opinion Veterinary Surgeon who is ready to take the next step in their career. As a newly created role, you will play a key part in the continued growth of a fast-expanding first-opinion service within a busy hospital environment, benefiting from close collaboration with a 24-hour emergency and critical care team and certificate-led referral clinicians.

You will be able to admit and manage your own patients with the support of continuous inpatient care, an experienced ECC team and certificate-led clinicians. Clinical discussions and case advice are actively encouraged, giving you a supportive environment in which to develop your skills and provide the highest standard of patient care.

The role also offers the opportunity to gain experience in our on-site CT service, with full training provided. You will play an important part in shaping and growing the first-opinion service, with support available to pursue further qualifications and individual clinical interests. An interest or additional qualification in behaviour would be particularly welcomed. We also have a growing exotics caseload if this is an area you want to work in (optional).

Working within a busy hospital environment, you'll have a fantastic opportunity to develop and enhance your ECC skills and experience, benefiting from exposure to a varied and rewarding caseload. Weekend shifts are supported by a team of five-day vets, alongside a large and dedicated twilight and night team who provide seamless 24-hour patient care. As this service continues to grow, you'll have the opportunity to help shape its future direction, playing an active role in its development with the support of an experienced management team, Head Vets, nurses and administrative colleagues. We actively encourage professional development, with certificate study fully supported, and OV certification would be advantageous, although it is not essential.
