Are you an experienced, all-round veterinary surgeon with aspirations to help develop and support other team members?

Salary: up to £65,000 DOE – Full time and Part Time applications will be considered.  Minimum 2 years experience required.

We have 3 sites based in Bath, one of which is purpose built and opened at the start of March 2026. At Ashman Jones, we treat our clients and their pets as part of our family. We aim to offer the best clinical care every time in a friendly, welcoming environment. We have 15 min consult slots with a pleasantly paced schedule, so there is plenty of time for reporting results, case work up and even lunch and a cup of tea! Operating shifts are currently 8am-5pm. Consulting shifts are 9-530pm or 9-630pm. We have some very experienced nurses with interests in surgery and anaesthesia who are a great support on a busy operating day. We have vets with interests in surgery, medicine, dermatology, and a cardiology certificate holder.

Support, mentoring and career progression is a huge part of what we do, we are keen to help others in all stages of their career, both vets and nurses. Although a small team we pride ourselves on evidenced-based, step wise in-house case work ups. Some of the more challenging cases may require specialist referral but we ensure that we complete as much of the work up ourselves, working collaboratively within our team and/or with local Certificate holders if needed, before taking this step. We also support following the case past our practice, for our own development as well as giving consistency to our clients.

Kit available includes Digital x-ray, Dental x-ray, IM3 dental machine, In-house laboratory – biochemistry, haematology, endocrinology. Microscope. Tonopen, Ultrasound – Midray Z6 vet with abdominal and cardiac probe and ECG leads. We also have separate cat and dogs wards.

The role:

Full or part time hours considered. Full time is a 4 day a week, with 1:5 Saturdays (9am-3pm consults only) Ideally you will have a minimum of 2 years' experience. For the right candidate there is an opportunity for development into a lead vet role.

  • 6.6 weeks holiday
  • Enhanced sick leave pay
