Weekend ECC Veterinary Surgeon, PetMedics Worsley Hospital. Manchester.
Looking for an Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) opportunity that fits around the rest of your life?
Up to £80,000 full time equivalent, depending on experience.
Rota: Either 1 in 2, 1 in 4, or 1 in 8 weekends, with Saturday and Sunday 8-hour shifts. However, we are also happy to consider flexible arrangements, including single-day weekend roles, making this an excellent opportunity for vets looking to complement an existing position while developing their ECC experience. Many of our weekend vets combine a weekday role elsewhere with shifts at PetMedics, allowing them to build their emergency and critical care skills within a busy, referral-standard hospital environment.
PetMedics Worsley Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive Weekend ECC team. Whether you're already working in general practice and would like to build your emergency and critical care experience, or you're looking for a flexible role that works around family commitments or other interests, we'd love to hear from you.
Flexible weekend opportunities
We know that one size doesn't fit all, so we're happy to discuss a range of working patterns. Our standard rota is 1 in 4 weekends, working 8-hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday, but we're also able to accommodate:
This role could be a great fit for vets looking to balance work with family life, working parents returning to practice, or those wanting to complement an existing weekday role while developing their ECC skills.
Many of our weekend vets work elsewhere during the week and value the opportunity to gain exposure to a varied ECC caseload within a busy referral-standard hospital.
You'll be joining a team that genuinely enjoys supporting one another. Whether you're experienced in ECC or looking to build your confidence, you'll have access to experienced clinicians, excellent facilities and a collaborative team who are always happy to share knowledge and advice.
We understand that careers don't all follow the same path, and we'll work with you to create a role that supports both your professional development and your life outside work.
About You
We're looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with solid first-opinion experience and confidence in consultations and routine surgery.
Previous ECC experience would be an advantage, but it's certainly not essential. If you're keen to develop your emergency and critical care skills, you'll be supported by an experienced team and a hospital environment that provides excellent learning opportunities.
We welcome applications from vets at different stages of their careers, including Certificate Holders and those currently studying towards further qualifications.
We welcome flexible applications
We know great vets come from a variety of backgrounds and life circumstances. If you're looking for a role that works around family commitments, school hours, caring responsibilities, or another veterinary position, we'd be happy to discuss how this opportunity could work for you.
If you'd prefer a fixed-term contract rather than a permanent role, we'd also be pleased to have that conversation.
