The Employer:
CVS Group plc is one of the largest integrated veterinary services providers in the UK and owns hundreds of veterinary practices throughout the UK and Australia. We want to be the veterinary company people most want to work for, attract the best people and deliver the best possible care to animals.
Our Laboratory Division consists of two laboratories (Finn Pathologists, AXIOM Laboratories) and is dedicated to providing the highest quality diagnostic pathology services. We offer a comprehensive range of testing including biochemistry, endocrinology, serology, haematology, microbiology, cytology and histopathology for companion animal and farm animal species. We are constantly upgrading our methods and employ innovative technologies, including digital cytology. AXIOM Laboratories has recently started a residency program approved by the European College of Veterinary Clinical Pathology.
The Role:
We are looking for a dynamic clinical pathologist to join our team. Primary duties and responsibilities include:
Reporting of cytology and haematology submissions (on glass or digitally), ensuring high standards and timely turnaround of results.
Training of clinical pathology residents (AXIOM) and clinical residents visiting from our network of referral hospitals.
Participation in the interpretation and validation of clinical pathology results in conjunction with the internal medicine team as required.
Providing telephone consultations to clinical veterinarians relating to clinical pathology results.
Essential qualifications and experience:
Degree of Veterinary Medicine
Active MRCVS status (UK or overseas)
Formal postgraduate training in veterinary clinical pathology under the supervision of a board certified veterinary clinical pathologist
Preferable:
Board certification in veterinary clinical pathology (Dip. ECVCP, ACVP, FRCPath, or equivalent)
We believe that clinical pathologists should be supported in their interests and growth, and this is why:
We are giving our clinical pathologists protected time to prepare and deliver clinical pathology training to residents
We are offering our clinical pathologists a generous CPD allowance and CPD leave
We are encouraging our clinical pathologists to deliver CPD sessions to clinical veterinarians and are giving them protected, off-duty time to prepare
Our clinical pathologists can apply for CVS-funded research, either independently or in collaboration with clinical veterinarians
Salary is highly competitive, based on workload and experience.
